About the Role

Choice Teachers is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher for a vibrant secondary school in Clapham. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality lessons across KS3–KS4 (and KS5 if required), inspiring students to develop strong literacy, analytical, and communication skills.

The role involves planning engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and contributing to a supportive and collaborative English department.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3–KS4 (and KS5 if required).

Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.

Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback.

Promote high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and wellbeing in the classroom.

Support extracurricular activities, such as debating, literature clubs, and school publications.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and school initiatives.

Person Specification

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

Strong subject knowledge in English.

Ability to motivate and engage students of all abilities.

Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.

Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Desirable:

Experience teaching English at secondary level.

Experience with exam preparation (GCSE / A-level).

Experience running extracurricular activities related to English, such as clubs or competitions.
