Are you a nurturing and patient individual with experience as a nanny, looking to make a difference in a school setting? GSL Education Kent are offering a fantastic opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs in a warm and inclusive school in Tonbridge.

If you’ve previously worked as a nanny and have experience caring for children with diverse needs, this SEN Teaching Assistant role could be your ideal next step. You’ll be part of a dedicated team helping to create a positive, structured learning environment where every child can thrive.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll receive guidance and training while working closely with teachers and therapists to meet the individual needs of students.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting students with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language difficulties, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges in and out of the classroom.
Assisting with daily routines and providing personal care when required.
Encouraging social and emotional development through consistent, patient interactions.
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, helping them to feel safe and confident.
Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support strategies.
To be considered for the SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will:

Have previous experience as a nanny, childminder, or in another caregiving role involving children with additional needs.
Be kind, compassionate, and genuinely interested in supporting children with SEN.
Have strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and staff.
Be willing to learn and adapt as part of a supportive team.
Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one through GSL).
