Role: HVAC & Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £39590 - (Basic Salary + London Weighting Allowance)

Are you a qualified Mechanical & HVAC Engineer looking for a role with purpose? We’re looking for a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the Facilities Management team at a Category B prison in South East London. This is a vital role where safety, security, and high-quality maintenance are paramount.
About the Role: You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of mechanical and HVAC engineering tasks, including planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and installations across the site. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a challenging but rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform fault finding and repairs on a range of plant and equipment
Assist with multi-trade tasks, including plumbing, to support the wider FM team
Install new plant and equipment as required
Escort and supervise contractors on-site in line with procedures
Investigate and report on plant performance, with recommendations for improvements
Maintain up-to-date records for all PPM schedules
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and site protocols
Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota and weekend working when required
What You’ll Need:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC
Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience
Membership of a relevant technical professional body (desirable)
A proactive, flexible attitude and a strong commitment to teamwork and customer satisfaction
Ability to pass enhanced security clearance checks, including CRB and CTC (Counter Terrorism Check) clearance
