MTrec’s new career opportunity
Our client are specialists in their market sector, they are now looking to recruit a Specialist Welding and Fabrication Estimator on a permanent basis.
The Job you’ll do
* Estimate Preparation: Analyse incoming Requests for Quote, technical drawings, and welding
specifications to prepare detailed fabrication cost estimates.
* Specialised Welding Costing: Identify all necessary materials (S690QL, duplex, Inconel, etc.), welding joint types (full-penetration welds, purged welds), and compute costs considering complexity of high performance materials, distortion mitigation, and code compliance.
* Incorporation of Post-Weld Operations: Include costs and time for post-weld machining, and NDT in estimates.
* ERP System Utilisation: Input/manage estimate data in the ERP system for quoting and job tracking, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
* Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with Purchasing, Engineering, and Production to refine estimates and execution plans, coordinating for material costs, design, and shop capabilities.
* Welding Section Support: Oversee and support the welding section, providing technical guidance, weld sequencing, and troubleshooting support.
* Quality and Standards Compliance: Ensure compliance with ISO 3834 and other welding standards; include QA checks, WPS/PQR compliance, and inspection requirements in project planning.
* Distortion Control Planning: Incorporate welding distortion control methods into estimates and plans; apply techniques such as back-step welding, balanced welding, and fixturing.
* Continuous Improvement: Review project outcomes vs. estimates; refine estimating models and maintain accuracy metrics over time.
