We are working with a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor with a strong
reputation in the delivery of road resurfacing, highways maintenance, and associated
infrastructure projects. Operating across the North West, the business delivers works for local
authorities, commercial developers, and private clients, with a focus on quality, safety, and
long-term client relationships.
Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are now seeking a skilled and
commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join their team and help manage the financial and
contractual aspects of a range of projects.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs from tender through to
final account. You will play a key role in supporting the commercial delivery of multiple projects,
working closely with site and project managers, clients, and subcontractors. This is a great
opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to make an impact in a dynamic and respected civil
engineering business.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of bills of quantities, take-offs, and pricing for tenders and live projects.
Cost control, budgeting, and financial forecasting across multiple sites.
Valuation of works and preparation of interim applications for payment.
Assess and approve subcontractor payments and variations.
Identify and manage risks, claims, and disputes.
Assist in project reporting and commercial audits.
Support the production of CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations).
Work collaboratively with delivery teams to ensure commercial success.
Ensure all commercial procedures are followed in accordance with company standards.
Requirements:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar.
Experience in the civil engineering, highways, or road surfacing sector is essential.
Strong understanding of NEC, JCT, or other standard forms of contract.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant commercial software/tools
