Cyber Threat Hunter
Location: West Midlands - Hybrid with 1 day per week on site, can be less frequent
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000
Are you driven by curiosity and motivated by the chase? We're partnering with a major organisation operating in a high-impact environment, and they're on the lookout for a skilled Threat Hunter to join their cutting-edge cyber security team. This is more than just a job - it's a chance to hunt down adversaries, uncover stealthy threats, and play a key role in defending critical infrastructure from advanced attacks.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Cybersecurity Threat Hunter, you'll be digging deep into data, behaviour patterns, and anomalies - uncovering what traditional security tools miss. You'll lead intelligence-led investigations and collaborate across the business to proactively detect and neutralise cyber threats before they cause harm. Your expertise will strengthen detection capabilities, inform strategy, and help future-proof the organisation's defences.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct proactive, intelligence-led threat hunts to uncover hidden or novel malicious activity.
Research threat actor behaviours and emerging TTPs, applying them to real-world scenarios.
Generate clear, impactful threat hunting reports that guide tactical and strategic decisions.
Partner with cyber, incident response, and engineering teams to enhance detection rules and coverage.
Investigate anomalies in internal environments and leverage tools (including ML-assisted hunting models) to identify suspicious patterns.
Respond to Ad-Hoc hunt requests and support investigations into ongoing incidents.
What You'll Bring:
A naturally inquisitive mindset - you enjoy asking "what if?" and following digital trails.
At least 3 years' experience in a Security Operations Centre (SOC), incident response, or threat hunting role.
Familiarity with Active Directory, endpoint systems, and cloud security platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365).
Proficiency in KQL or similar query languages (or a strong desire to master them).
Strong communication and collaboration skills - with the ability to explain findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
A background in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Why This Role Stands Out:
You'll be at the front line of a rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape - hunting real-world adversaries and shaping the security posture of a vital organisation.
You'll have autonomy and support - the freedom to explore your ideas, plus a collaborative team that has your back.
You won't just respond to threats - you'll anticipate and outsmart them.
You'll keep growing - with ongoing learning opportunities, access to cutting-edge tools, and exposure to one of the most complex cyber environments in the UK.
