An inclusive and nurturing secondary school in Reading is seeking a qualified and experienced SENCO to lead on Special Educational Needs provision across the school. This is a permanent position for a dedicated SENCO who is passionate about breaking down barriers to learning and ensuring every student reaches their full potential.
As a SENCO, you will work at the heart of the school’s commitment to inclusion, providing strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for all aspects of SEND provision. You will lead a skilled team of teaching assistants and collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
Responsibilities of the SENCO role include:

Leading the development and implementation of the school’s SEND strategy.

Overseeing EHCPs, assessments, and interventions for students with special needs.
*
Supporting and training teachers in best practices for inclusive teaching.
*
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of SEND legislation and guidance.
*
Working closely with senior leadership to ensure SEND provision aligns with school goals.
*
Liaising with external professionals and agencies to support student needs.
*
Monitoring progress of students with SEND and adjusting support accordingly.
*
Ensuring the school meets all legal and ethical responsibilities under the SEND Code of Practice.
Requirements:

NASENCO qualification (or willingness to complete it).
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
*
Proven experience working with students with SEND.
*
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisation skills.
