Purpose of the role Purpose of the role Colas are looking for part time Winter Maintenance Driver with a HGV Cat C (Class 2) drivers, with CPC, to work on the Newcastle CC Winter Maintenance. The drivers will be appointed to cover the Winter Maintenance season from 6th October 2025 until 17th April 2026 (This maybe extended if the weather is of a poor nature at the time).  We are looking for suitable candidates to work on a weekly sum contract basis.

Location – Rothbury Terrace, Heaton, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE6 5DE Drivers must commit to availability every day for the duration of the service. We will pay you a lump sum figure of £600.00 from Monday- Sunday regardless of any requirements. The hours will vary per week depending on call outs. Decision making for morning and evenings are generally made on a lunchtime however there will be an expectation that you could take a phone call at any time and respond to the callout.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a full UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and a full CPC is essential and checks will be carried out. A valid Winter Maintenance qualification or experience is desirable but not essential as training is required and will be given for the City and Guilds qualification which will be arranged in October 2025. You must have the ability to get to Heaton Depot, Newcastle within 1 hours’ notice. A drugs and alcohol test will be done on first day of employment if successful and random D&A tests will be done throughout your time with us.
