We are currently recruiting for a proactive and detail-driven Buyer / Planner to join the Purchasing Team of our client—a leading aerospace manufacturer based in Sheffield—on a minimum 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a high-performing supply chain function, supporting critical operations within a fast-paced and dynamic aerospace environment.

You'll play a key role in ensuring material availability, supporting production requirements, and maintaining strong relationships with both customers and suppliers. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for supplier performance, risk mitigation, and inventory planning, while driving improvements across procurement and planning processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan and schedule material requirements in line with production demand.
Conduct load vs. capacity analysis to ensure production readiness.
Source and procure aerospace-grade materials in compliance with ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
Monitor and optimise inventory levels while managing excess/obsolete stock.
Manage supplier performance and on-time delivery, including site visits where necessary.
Support dual sourcing strategies by identifying and onboarding alternate suppliers.
Maintain accurate data in the MRP system (lead times, MOQ, safety stock, etc.).
Track and report on KPIs including OTIF, inventory turns, arrears, and lead time performance.
Identify and implement cost savings through improved planning, negotiations, and order optimisation.
Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and systems. About You:
CIPS Level 4 qualified (or Level 3 with significant relevant experience).
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar manufacturing or engineering environment.
High level of numeracy and Excel proficiency (including pivot tables).
Experience with MRP/ERP (ideally EFACS) 
Strong understanding of BOMs, engineering drawings, and routing.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective supplier relationships.

Contract: Minimum 12-month
Working Hours: Monday–Friday with an early finish every Friday
