Job Summary
SeeAbility is a charity that supports people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss in the UK. We are looking for someone to be part of our team as an Oliver McGowan mandatory training expert. You will have professional or lived experience of autism and be confident speaking in front of groups.
You will support the training of colleagues in health and social care so they better understand the needs of people with learning disabilities and autistic people. You will work closely with other trainers – for example, people with lived experience – to deliver sessions that are open, honest and easy to understand.
What you will do
Share your experience of autism as part of training sessions
Work with others to deliver the Oliver McGowan mandatory training
Make sure the training is respectful, clear and includes different points of view
Talk with people in the sessions and answer their questions
Help others learn how to give better support to people with learning disabilities and autistic peopleWhat Skills you will need
Personal experience of autism
To be comfortable talking in groups and sharing your story
To believe that everyone should be treated fairly and with respect
A friendly and open approach
To work well with others as part of a team
Ability to travel as part of your role
Ability to be part of a training session for 3 hours at a time

Registered as The Royal School for the Blind, SeeAbility is one of the oldest disability charities in the UK having pioneered specialist support across multiple generations since 1799!
We specialise in supporting people who have learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, who may also have sight loss.
