Senior / Principal Planning Consultant

Location: Belbroughton
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000
Working Pattern: Hybrid (approximately two days per week office-based)

An established and progressive planning consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior or Principal Planner as part of its continued growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional seeking greater responsibility, flexibility and long-term career development.

The Role

You will take a lead role in delivering a varied portfolio of work, including planning applications, appeals, development appraisals and strategic land projects. The position involves regular engagement with clients, planning authorities and other key stakeholders, providing clear, pragmatic advice across a wide range of development types.

As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute to maintaining high project standards, supporting junior colleagues and strengthening long-term client relationships.

What You’ll Be Working On

* Managing complex planning projects from instruction through to determination

* Preparing and overseeing applications, appeals and supporting documentation

* Advising clients on planning strategy, risk and opportunity

* Liaising with local authorities, consultants and external stakeholders

* Working across residential, commercial, rural and mixed-use developments

* Mentoring and supporting less experienced team members

* Contributing to business growth through strong client service and project delivery

About You:

This role would suit someone who:

* Is MRTPI qualified, or working towards chartered status (for strong Senior-level candidates)

* Has solid experience within consultancy and/or a local authority environment

* Are confident managing projects independently and advising clients directly

* Demonstrates a proactive, commercially aware and solution-driven mindset

* Communicates clearly and builds trusted professional relationships
