Straight-Line are currently hiring a Graduate/Trainee Mechanical Engineer within the pressure vessel industry.

As a Graduate / Trainee Mechanical Engineer, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience across design, estimation, and project delivery. You’ll learn how to interpret technical specifications, develop design calculations, and support the manufacture of bespoke pressure vessels and related products.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist with the design and calculation of pressure vessels and fabrications in accordance with ASME, PD5500, and EN13445 standards.

* Support the preparation of drawings, material specifications, and technical documentation.

* Work closely with the production, quality, and project management teams to ensure engineering accuracy and compliance.

* Participate in estimating and tendering activities to understand commercial aspects of engineering projects.

* Support inspection, testing, and quality control processes.

* Engage in continuous learning to develop technical and professional skills.

Person Specification:

* Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

* Some experience or exposure to pressure vessels, fabrication, or heavy engineering (industrial placement, project work, or early career experience).

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Good understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

* Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to develop within a supportive team.

* Confident communicator with a practical, hands-on approach.

Salary - £32,000 + pension
