Job Title: Senior Security Architect
Contract: 12 months
Location: Newcastle Hub (40% on-site, increasing to 60% from September). Open to other northern hubs (Leeds, Manchester, Blackpool) with occasional travel to Newcastle.
Pay Rate: Up to £750/day (inside IR35)
Security Clearance: SC required

Contracting Authority: Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

Core Purpose - The Senior Security Architect will:

Engage with senior stakeholders across departments.
Influence teams and communities across the organisation.
Research and apply innovative security architecture solutions.
Develop vision, principles, and strategy for security architecture.
Balance security requirements and make informed design decisions.
Lead technical design of systems and services.
Support quality assurance and act as an escalation point for junior architects.

Summary of the Role and key responsibilities:
* interact with senior stakeholders across departments
* reach and influence a wide range of people across larger teams and communities
* research and apply innovative security architecture solutions to new or existing problems and be able to justify and communicate design decisions
* develop vision, principles and strategy for security architects for one project or technology
* work out subtle security needs
* understand the impact of decisions, balancing requirements and deciding between approaches
* produce particular patterns and support quality assurance
* be the point of escalation for architects in lower grade roles
* lead the technical design of systems and services

Analyse technical solutions and identify areas for improvement.
Reuse analysis across similar problem sets.
Communicate security and risk implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Design and review secure system architectures using patterns and principles.

Technical Skills required:
* monitor the analysis of a technical solution and ensure analysis is reused for similar problem sets
* review solutions and identify areas for change
* drive the collection of information that is used and analysed
* feed back on policy and requirements

Analysis: Ability to monitor and drive technical analysis and feedback loops.
Communication: Deep understanding of security concepts and ability to communicate them clearly.
Designing Secure Systems: Experience in designing and reviewing secure architectures.

Communication:
* demonstrate a deep understanding of security concepts and can apply them to a technical level
* effectively translate and accurately communicate security and risk implications to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Designing Secure Systems:

design and review system architectures through the development of patterns and principles

Knowledge and Experience required:

e.g. Previous experience of working for a government dept.
- We are seeking a highly experienced individual that has worked with complex large-scale micro-service infrastructure.
- AWS cloud experience is essential
- Working with db applications such as Mongo DB & PostgreSQL experience is essential
- Working with systems that encrypt data is essential
