What if, as a Proposals Engineer, you had 18 months to learn everything from the person who’s been doing it for decades?

Not just shadowing, not sitting in meetings… properly learning, absorbing the way they think, the questions they ask, how they piece together complex engineering projects and turn them into proposals that win work globally in am array of different sectors.

That’s what’s on offer here!

We’re looking for you a Proposals Engineer who wants to grow into a role that combines technical brainpower with people skills.
You’ll be the link between engineering and sales, the person who turns concepts into drawings, brings tender documents to life, and gives customers the confidence that what they’re buying will work.

And the best bit?

You’ve got time to learn it the right way.
You’ll work closely with the Proposals Manager, who’s retiring in 18 months, to soak up their knowledge, you will end up with a virtual USB stick from their head to yours to transfer everything they’ve learnt across decades of project work.

This isn’t just about CAD skills (though you’ll need those, whether that’s AutoCAD, SolidWorks or something similar).
It’s about becoming the go-to Proposals Engineer, pulling together drawings, technical documentation, pricing and persuasive presentations that support the sales team and bring engineering projects to life.

You’ll be based in Dudley in the West Midlands, but from time to time you’ll join the sales team on visits, sometimes in the UK, sometimes overseas, so you’ll need to be confident in front of customers, comfortable having technical conversations, and the kind of person who listens well, communicates clearly, and builds rapport naturally.

You might already be in a technical sales role, or maybe you’re in engineering and want more customer-facing exposure, either way, if you can combine technical know-how with strong communication skills, this Proposals Engineer role could be the right next step.

The essentials that you will bring to the table:

• Confident using CAD software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks
• Experience pulling together proposals, technical documentation, or bids
• Personable, outgoing, and happy to travel occasionally in the UK and abroad
• A natural curiosity and love of solving problems
• Not afraid to ask questions and get stuck in

What’s in it for you as proposals engineer:

• £40,000 to £50,000 salary depending on experience
• Company car or car allowance
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
• 37.5 hour working week
• A clear path for progression & the rare opportunity to learn from a true expert

This Proposals Engineer role is office based, Monday to Friday, with occasional travel when needed, you’ll be stepping into a business where your development is taken seriously, and the doors are there to open for you.

This role is exclusive to Marshall Harmony. You won’t be contacted by any third parties.
