We are currently seeking motivated and resilient Teaching Assistants to work within Behavioural and Alternative Provision (AP) settings across Northampton. These schools cater for pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning due to social, emotional, or behavioural needs, and provide a nurturing, inclusive, and structured environment to help them re-engage with their education.

As a Behavioural/Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, mentors, and pastoral staff to support pupils both academically and emotionally. You'll help them build self-esteem, develop positive coping strategies, and re-establish trust in the learning process.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning and behavioural needs

Building strong, positive relationships with pupils based on consistency and respect

Supporting behaviour management strategies and encouraging positive choices

Assisting in delivering engaging, practical learning activities across the curriculum

Helping pupils develop life skills, confidence, and emotional resilience

We're looking for:

Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or in youth work settings

A calm, patient, and empathetic personality

Strong communication and de-escalation skills

A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed, no matter their background
