Catering Assistant (Baker) - Secondary School - Somerset/Devon Area

Location: Taunton
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 14:30 (30-minute unpaid break)
Pay: £14.36 - £16.00 per hour (depending on PAYE or umbrella)
Contract: Term Time Only + 2 INSET Days
Start Date: ASAP

Prospero Teaching is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming secondary school for a Catering Assistant (Baker) to join their dedicated kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for baking and a desire to contribute to a positive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Bake and decorate approximately 200 cakes each morning.
Assist with food preparation and service of hot and cold meals.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
Provide friendly and professional customer service to students and staff.
Support with cleaning duties including washing up and equipment maintenance.
Occasionally serve meals at other schools (transport provided).

Requirements:

Experience in baking or catering (school or commercial setting).
A positive, proactive attitude and strong team spirit.
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
