We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated National Grid Competent Person for sites operated by National Grid.

As an authorised Competent Person, you will be responsible for the implementation of safety documentation, issue and cancellation of permits, and ensuring compliance with National Grid Safety Rules and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a National Grid Authorised Competent Person in accordance with NETS Safety Rules.

*

Prepare, issue, and cancel safety documentation (Permits to Work, Sanctions for Test, etc.).

*

Implement and manage safe systems of work on high-voltage transmission sites (132kV–400kV).

*

Carry out isolations, switching operations, and safety checks.

*

Liaise with Site Managers, Engineers, SAPs (Senior Authorised Persons), and National Grid representatives.

*

Conduct toolbox talks and ensure site teams operate within safety guidelines.

*

Maintain accurate documentation and site records.

*

Support outage planning and commissioning activities.

Essential Requirements

*

Current National Grid Competent Person authorisation NSI 6 & 8

*

Strong knowledge of National Grid Safety Rules and HV procedures.

*

Proven experience on transmission-level substations (132kV–400kV)
