Cross-Curricular Teacher

Salary: £150 - £210 per day (dependent on experience)

Are you an experienced and adaptable teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the creativity and confidence to deliver a broad, primary-style curriculum in a secondary specialist setting?
TeacherActive is working in partnership with a well-established alternative provision based in Platt Bridge, Wigan. This nurturing and inclusive school supports students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs, offering a highly personalised approach that focuses on emotional wellbeing, positive relationships, and re-engagement with learning.
We are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic Cross-Curricular Teacher to deliver a primary-style curriculum across a range of subjects including English, Maths, PSHE, and Topic-based learning. The role will involve:
Delivering a cross-curricular, primary-style curriculum to small groups of KS3 and KS4 pupils
Creating a safe and engaging classroom environment that supports SEMH learners
Differentiating teaching to meet a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and academic needs
Building strong, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and self-esteem
Working closely with support staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching across multiple subjects at a primary or lower-secondary level
Proven ability to support pupils with SEMH needs and manage challenging behaviour
A trauma-informed, patient, and consistent approach to classroom practice
A commitment to inclusive education and whole-child development
