Our client who is one of the leading Waste distributors located in Coventry is now hiring for the role of Telehandler driver to join their small but dynamic team.

Pay rate is   £14.13 basic /  £16.29 (including shift allowance)  for 1st year 
 £17.42 basic  / £20.08 (including shift allowance)  once completed the first year. 

Job Summary 
 
The purpose of the role is to accept household, commercial and industrial waste, primarily from local authorities for the incineration of waste, utilising the heat and power generated at the optimum level of efficiency, reliability and cost, to ensure the profitability and long term future of the Company.  The aim of all employees is to help achieve this.

Job Details 

Ensure compliance with Site Licence conditions and planning approvals at all times
Direct and assist members of the public on site to ensure the best service provision. This may require physical assistance within the manual handling procedure
Ensure waste segregation and recycling into the correct receptacles with as little cross-contamination as possible
Receive and segregate “special” wastes as required
Ensure both sites and environs are maintained in a clean and tidy condition at all times
Undertake safety audits as necessary to ensure the safety of all personnel using the site
Keep accurate up-to-date records of site operations and events as required by the Site Licence conditions
Follow and develop procedures as necessary to ensure maximum efficiency whilst not compromising health and safety
Ensure the requisite number of empty waste containers are available at all times
Load bulk vehicles with wastes for transportation off site
Direct vehicles and supervise all waste deliveries
Undertake regular inspections of delivered waste to ensure compliance with documentation and current legislation
Oversee and assist in the disposal of confidential waste
Organise and direct transportation as necessary for off site disposal of wastes from the Transfer Facility
Ensure compliance with Duty of Care Regulations for all waste movements
Operate weighbridge equipment to ensure unhindered reception of wastes
Provide holiday and sickness cover for the Stores department
Provide holiday and sickness cover for the ash crane
Maintain the ash crane area in a tidy and litter-free condition
Obtain relevant licences for operating on site machines, e.g. forklift truck, multi-purpose loading shovel, ash crane and 360 excavator.
Liaise with Plant Operational staff to ensure the best value service provision to customers and smooth operation of process plant and determine the transportation requirements for wastes both on and off site.
Operate machinery and equipment in a safe and productive manner and in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations. Reporting any defects to supervisory staff immediately
Liaise with Operations staff in order to determine the transportation requirements for wastes both on and off site
The Site Operative will maintain a smart appearance at all times
Assist in the development of new initiatives as necessary
