Why this role matters
The Accounts Payable Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the Group’s financial operations. As part of the Accounts Payable team, you’ll process supplier invoices, maintain financial data integrity, and ensure compliance with VAT and internal controls. Your diligence and attention to detail will help safeguard the business against fraud and error while enabling accurate financial analysis across the organisation.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across a range of accounts payable activities, work closely with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes within CSG.
What you’ll be doing
Code supplier invoices and arrange signatories in line with the SAM process
Ensure all supplier invoices are returned and processed in a timely manner
Review supplier invoices for non-standard VAT rates and confirm appropriate processing with the Accounts Payable Supervisor
Process supplier invoices through PSFinancials or other business systems as directed
Reconcile supplier statements with purchase ledger records and follow up on missing invoices
File statements and supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
Manage supplier queries promptly and professionally via the AP mailbox
Prepare and check faster payment documentation, ensuring appropriate authorisation in line with the SAM process
Maintain strong awareness of fraud risks and act proactively to protect the business from financial or reputational loss
Support system development, testing and process improvements related to the Accounts Payable function
Adhere to company policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Environmental and GDPR standards
What we’re looking for
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Previous experience in an Accounts Payable environment or administrative environment
Understanding of fraud, risk and financial controls
Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proactive attitude and ability to work independently
Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
