Specialists in providing engineered above ground drainage and water supply systems, Polypipe Building Services leverages offsite fabrication to design and deliver solutions to mechanical and public health engineers, M&E contractors as well as local authorities. Polypipe Building Services houses well-known industry brand Terrain and has been delivering systems to commercial, high rise residential, healthcare, education and leisure projects for over 50 years.
Overview: Helping to build a culture of sustainable change through continuous improvement, roll-out and embedding of the 'Genuit Business System', and application of lean methodologies in order to meet the Polypipe Building Services strategic priorities for growth and sustainability.
Emphasis will be on lean focused activities and initiatives across transactional and operational processes, supporting the Senior Leadership Team in achieving business excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Champion customer-first thinking by driving initiatives that deliver measurable value to our customers.
* Act as a key driver in the implementation of Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) methodologies in line with the 'Genuit Business System'.
* Identify and execute business-wide improvement projects focussed on Lean process enhancement and the elimination of non-value-added activities and waste.
* Plan, facilitate and lead Kaizen events and activities to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
* Use tools such as Process Mapping and Value Stream Mapping to highlight inefficiencies and streamline operations.
* Deliver training and coaching to cross-functional teams on CI principles, including problem solving techniques, standardisation, and lean tools such as VSM and waste reduction.
* Establish a structured approach to CI training and knowledge sharing across the organisation.
* Manage CI projects effectively, ensuring clear implementation plans and successful delivery.
* Communicate CI initiatives, progress and outcomes both locally and across the wider business.
* Develop and produce KPIs and metrics to track the success and benefits of CI projects.
* Represent Polypipe Building Services at Group CI networking events, sharing and adopting best practices.
* Support structured problem-solving events to tackle capacity, efficiency and productivity challenges sustainably.
Skills & Requirements:
* Proven experience in a continuous improvement role within a manufacturing or similar environment.
* Strong project management skills with a track record of successful deployment.
* In-depth knowledge of Lean CI tools and principles, including Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Visual Management, Root Cause Analysis, A3 Problem Solving, 7 Wastes, SMED, and Daily Management.
* Proficient in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, with strong analytical and data-driven thinking.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Relevent qualifications in CI/Lean (e.g., Six Sigma / Industry 4.0).
* A technical qualification in Engineering or Business Management is desirable.
Working hours and benefits:
Salary of circa £65,000 per annum
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
