Team Manager – Assessment Team – North Somerset

Rate: Up to £41 per hour

Contract: Locum

Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days in-office)

Sheldon Phillips is seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead the Children’s Assessment Team in North Somerset on a locum basis. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the office, offering flexibility while delivering vital frontline services.

The Assessment Team is the first point of contact for referrals and works to assess risk, provide robust early interventions, and ensure children are safeguarded. This role is ideal for a confident leader who can bring stability and focus to a fast-paced, high-impact team.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and oversight to a team of social workers managing child and family assessments.

Monitor performance, support reflective supervision, and drive good practice standards.

Ensure timely, high-quality assessments and decision-making in line with statutory frameworks.

Support practitioners in achieving positive outcomes through robust case management and planning.

Work collaboratively with partners across health, education, and the voluntary sector.

Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

Substantial experience in statutory children’s services, particularly in assessment or safeguarding.

Previous experience in a management or senior practitioner role.

Strong leadership, risk management, and decision-making skills.

Enhanced DBS check and full right to work in the UK.
