     Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Near St Neots, Cambridgeshire
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Our client, a leading manufacturer of special purpose machinery and automation equipment, is seeking a talented engineer to join their growing design team near St Neots.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the full lifecycle of innovative mechanical design projects — from concept and 3D modelling through to detailed manufacturing drawings and prototype build.
Key Responsibilities
  * 
    Design and develop complex mechanical assemblies and automated machinery using SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
  * 
    Produce accurate 3D models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  * 
    Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including electrical and controls engineers.
  * 
    Participate in design reviews, testing, and commissioning of bespoke equipment.
  * 
    Support continuous improvement and contribute creative design solutions.
  * 
    Liaise with suppliers and the production team to ensure cost-effective manufacturing.
Skills & Experience
  * 
    Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a machinery or automation environment.
  * 
    Strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
  * 
    Knowledge of machine design, fabrication, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
  * 
    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  * 
    Effective communication skills and ability to manage multiple design projects.
