An iconic, British specialist vehicle company are seeking a Junior Buyer to join their team. You will have some experience in indirect categories, particularly within an automotive or manufacturing environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Buyer to join a collaborative and successful team that will support you as you develop.
Junior Buyer Role:
Reporting directly to a Category Manager or Senior Buyer, you will be primarily responsible for the commercial management of a portfolio of parts and / or services that are required within a particular manufacturing location.
You will form part of driving the purchasing/buying function of this UK based global brand to ensure a robust and committed supply chain. You will be an enthusiastic and capable individual whose internal relationships will be as important as those with your suppliers.
Supplier Performance & Delivery:
• Develop working relationship with key suppliers ensuring that performance targets are met.
• Ensure that the supply base supporting the manufacturing site and / or category are communicated appropriately with regards to forward planning and significant volume fluctuations.
• Supporting the launch activities required within the category and / or manufacturing location to ensure the supply base meets the timing, quality and cost expectations of a relevant programme.
• To act on alerts created from the continuous risk assessment process and to ensure Business Continuity plans are in place with appropriate suppliers.
Teamwork & Self-Development:
• Ensure that there is effective communication between all aspects of the supply chain function.
• Addresses performance issues with supply base relating to their category delivery.
• Understands the business performance requirements and effectively communicates to the supply base.
• Provides support to the category managers as required.
• Ensures adherence to and understanding of Purchasing policies and procedures.
Supply Base Management & Coordination:
• Supplier Performance Reviews.
• Annual Negotiations.
• Publishing Technology Road Map.
• Budget Creation.
• Agree Payment Terms.
• Oversee Business Continuity Plans.
• Manage Supplier Survey Feedback.
• Agree appropriate LTAs.
• Define Communication Strategy.
• Confirm Supplier Capacity.
• Support Warranty Recovery Escalations.
• Manage End of Life / Obsolescence Planning.
• Lead Supplier Administration Mitigation.
• Conduct Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).
• Supplier Positioning.
Junior Buyer Requirements:
• Degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
• CIPS qualification (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) is desirable but not essential.
• Some experience or internships in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• High level of attention to detail and well organised.
• A knowledge of automotive processes would be advantageous.
• A minimum of 1/2 years’ experience in a buying environment.
• Computer literate.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise workload.
• A highly flexible individual who can adjust to a very agile environment.
• Proactive, methodical, practical and persistent.
• Able to work well under pressure.
• Works well within a team.
• Microsoft Office suite proficient.
• Must have the Right To Work in the UK.
• This role is fully on-site with a flexi time arrangement.
