Multi-Skilled Engineer

Location: Cambridge, On-site Full Time

Shift Pattern: Days, Monday to Friday 8:30-17:00 (flexible)Reed Engineering are working with a pioneering agri-tech company based in Cambridge, focused on transforming food waste into sustainable, high-value products using insect farming powered by artificial intelligence. They are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to ensure the smooth operation of all electrical and mechanical systems across their production lines.

Day-to-day of the role:

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
Diagnose and repair faults on PLC-controlled systems, motors, sensors, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades.
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health & safety and food safety standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve issues and improve line efficiency.
Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement projects.Required Skills & Qualifications:

Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
Strong electrical fault-finding skills with a good understanding of mechanical systems.
Experience in a food, FMCG manufacturing environment (start up company experience would be beneficial).
Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.) and automated systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards is desirable.
Proactive, team-oriented, and able to work under pressure.Benefits:
