Full-Time Design & Technology Teacher Required - Leading Independent College in Cambridge (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 4 & 5 Essential)
Our leading independent college in the intellectually rich city of Cambridge seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Teacher of Design & Technology to join our thriving department and make a profound difference to the creative expression, practical skills, and innovative thinking capabilities of our students across Key Stage 4 and, crucially, Key Stage 5, commencing in September 2025.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Planning, preparing, and delivering highly effective and stimulating Design & Technology lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and high aspirations of our students across both key stages.
* Fostering students' deep understanding of key design concepts, materials, manufacturing processes, and evaluation methods, with a strong emphasis on the comprehensive demands of the A-Level specifications.
* Encouraging rigorous design thinking, the execution of high-quality practical outcomes, and confident presentation and evaluation of design solutions.
* Assessing and tracking student progress in Design & Technology across both key stages, providing insightful and constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies to ensure excellent outcomes, particularly for A-Level students.
* Contributing actively to the development, implementation, and rigorous review of the Design & Technology curriculum across both key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and providing extensive opportunities for practical and creative enrichment.
* Utilising and contributing to the development of high-quality DT resources, including workshop machinery, CAD/CAM software, and a diverse range of materials.
* Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote design and engineering understanding within the college community (e.g., design clubs, engineering challenges, industry visits).
* Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the department and across the wider college to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.
* Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in design, technology, and pedagogy, with a strong focus on A-Level teaching and assessment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
* A degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, Engineering, or a closely related highly relevant field.
* Successful and demonstrable experience teaching Design & Technology across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and, crucially, A-Level.
* A strong and up-to-date understanding of the A-Level Design & Technology curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
* Exceptional pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, particularly the academic rigour and depth required at Key Stage 5.
* A profound passion for Design & Technology and the ability to inspire and stretch students' creative thinking, practical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
* Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* A steadfast commitment to the safeguarding and well-being of students and the promotion of design and technological understanding within our vibrant Cambridge college community.
