Mechanical Fitter

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Salary: £17.00 – £19.00 per hour (DOE)

Contract: Permanent | Day Shifts

Hours: Mon–Thurs 8:00–16:30, Fri 8:00–15:15

As a main provider of automation solutions, we are seeking skilled Mechanical Fitters to join our expanding team in Wakefield. This is a permanent opportunity for experienced professionals who take pride in delivering precision engineering and quality craftsmanship. You will play a key role in assembling and installing special-purpose machinery, working to the highest safety and performance standards.

Your Responsibilities:

Assemble and fit machinery from detailed engineering drawings

Install and commission machinery at client sites

Operate a range of hand tools, lifting equipment, and workshop machinery

Conduct risk assessments and follow HSE procedures

Collaborate with client technical teams during on-site projects

Contribute to continuous improvement and process innovation

What We’re Looking For:

HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering

Proven experience in mechanical assembly (with knowledge of electrical/pneumatic systems preferred)

Strong understanding of machine safety and engineering drawings

Excellent communication skills and confidence in client-facing roles

Flexibility to travel when required
