■Job Description: The London office's Invest & Innovation Department is responsible for three areas: supporting local companies' expansion into Japan, promoting open innovation between local startups and Japanese companies, and supporting Japanese startups' expansion into Japan. This role will support other offices in the EMEA region as a regional coordinating centre, focusing on the London office's jurisdiction (*), with the aim of promoting corporate collaboration and innovation between Japan and Europe, ultimately encouraging local companies to invest in Japan (establishing a base in Japan and M&A of Japanese companies). You will perform the following tasks: *Government: UK, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland
(1) Identify local startups and other companies with outstanding technologies, primarily in the life sciences field, with the aim of fostering collaboration between these companies and Japanese companies. Additionally, identify those interested in investing in Japan and connect them to the investment support outlined in (5). Furthermore, build networks with the universities, research institutes (academia), and support organizations to which these companies belong or originate. To achieve this, team members will form theme-specific teams with other staff in the London office and work as a department-wide organization to identify partners and events to participate in for the most effective results.
(2) Assist in the planning, public relations, and management of events such as seminars, pitch events, workshops, and symposiums, as well as follow-up with companies, in order to identify local companies. These activities will also include collaboration with EU innovation-related agencies.
(3) Provide consultations and business matching for companies (project companies) interested in investing in Japan. Specifically, in collaboration with the Tokyo headquarters and other offices, conduct research and provide information on markets and regulations, respond to inquiries, and provide regular follow-up. This also includes follow-up with approximately 100 existing project companies.
(4) Register client information and collaboration status (e.g., minutes and service provision status) in the client management system, and submit and approve output and outcomes that are counted as achievements through this system. Coordinate and report with the relevant departments at the headquarters (Tokyo) regarding the formation and implementation of the above-mentioned programs and events.
(5) Support the formation of teams, particularly across Europe, to promote collaborative projects and investment in Japan in the EMEA region, primarily in Europe. Specifically, assist with knowledge sharing with national staff from other offices and the promotion of collaboration toward business formation and problem-solving.
(6) Perform tasks necessary for the operation of the Investment & Innovation Department or London office, as directed by the supervisor, and other tasks that must be handled by the investment team.

Requirements:
(1) Ability to work without a visa
(2) Ability to work 5 days a week
(3) Native speaker of English or Japanese, able to communicate in both English and Japanese, and able to write business-appropriate documents.
(4) A candidate who has a thorough understanding of social, cultural, and business practices in the UK and is well-suited to working while building trust with UK companies.
(5) A candidate who is able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Salesforce without difficulty.
(6) A candidate who is physically and mentally healthy and able to commute to work.
(7) A candidate who is able to work responsibly and with a sense of fulfillment in collaboration between UK companies and Japanese companies and in supporting investment in Japan.
(8) Experience working at a large life sciences company (open innovation work is preferable), or at a startup or other tech company, or who has experience supporting such companies
