Lightning Protection Designer/Estimator (129jc) – Blidworth/With up to 50% Travel – up to £45k depending on experience + Benefits

My client is seeking a Lightning Protection Designer/Estimator to join their growing technical team. This hybrid field-and-office-based role is ideal for those with a background in electrical systems, or engineering trades – especially those familiar with risk assessments, installations, or compliance.
What You’ll Do:
* Conduct on-site surveys, including soil resistivity testing and risk assessments
* Design lightning, surge, and specialist earthing protection systems (training provided)
* Use CAD and bespoke software (e.g., StrikeRisk – full training included)
* Estimate and scope installation, remedial, and maintenance works
* Produce technical reports, schematics, and inspection documentation
* Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver solutions on time and on budget
* Travel to UK-wide client sites; lodging provided where needed, as there will be about 50% nationwide travel.

What they are looking for:
* Formal engineering qualification or equivalent trade background
* 18th Edition qualified OR willing to train in BS EN 62305 (Lightning Protection Standards)
* Experience with electrical, force protection, or comms systems ideal
* Strong IT literacy – Excel, Outlook, design software
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Willingness to stay away from home as needed

If you’ve served in the Royal Engineers, REME, Signals, RAF Engineering, Royal Navy Engineering Branch or similar – this role could be your next step as they are happy to see candidates who have a minimum of 18th Edition qualification and a desire to develop and grow into this career, however your starting salary will be at the lower end of the bracket.
