Newcastle Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Long-Term Team. We are looking for a skilled professional to manage complex cases and provide leadership in our child protection services. This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families in the Newcastle area.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a complex and diverse caseload of children and families.

Conduct comprehensive risk and parenting assessments and develop effective care plans.

Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports for court proceedings.

Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced social workers within the team.

Collaborate with multi-agency partners to ensure the best outcomes for children.

Lead and participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.

Requirements:

A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., Diploma in Social Work, BA/MA in Social Work).

Registration with Social Work England.

Significant post-qualification experience in statutory child protection, court work, and case management.

Proven ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding caseload.

Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.

A commitment to trauma-informed practice and child welfare.
