Part Time HR Manager

My client is seeking an experienced HR Manager to join their team on a part time basis. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company’s HR function, supporting senior leadership, managers and employees.

You will oversee the recruitment, employment contracts, develop and implement HR strategies and manage the employee relations. You will:

* Collaborate with managers to create and amend job descriptions, create selection criteria and interview questions. Post job advertisements, screen candidates and liaise with recruitment agencies

* Complete onboarding by issuing contracts, requesting references and ensuring right to work checks are completed efficiently and leading the HR induction for new starters

* Provide company acceptance of resignations and completing exit interviews. Updating and maintaining employee records

* Investigate issues with managers and employees, providing practical advice, attend formal performance meetings and produce relevant documentation

* Assist the Customer Experience team with performance management

* Produce confirmation of probation period letters and advise managers on probation extensions where appropriate

* Oversee annual appraisal schedule to ensure meetings are completed and performance issues are addressed

* Monitor sickness absence to ensure sickness self-certification forms are returned. Providing guidance to managers to help manage long term sickness

* Co-ordinate and plan training programmes, events and workshops with the Leadership Team. Manage the training matrix for each business function to ensure that employee capability aligns with organisational objectives

* Produce and update policy documents and the employee handbook

* Ensure the organisation is compliant with employment law

* Work closely with the payroll team to ensure all changes are captured

* Liaise with Finance regarding company benefit programmes and setting up new employees on them

* Co-ordinate activities such as company conferences and outings, including arranging long service awards

The ideal candidate will:

* Be CIPD level 5 qualified or have equivalent experience

* Proven experience as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner or HR Generalist

* Have strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations practices

* Ideally have experience of working in a standalone HR role within an SME

* Ideally be a proficient user of the HR Information System, BreatheHR

* Must be willing to work in a team environment with a wide range of people and of varying abilities

* Be flexible and adaptable

* Remain professional when working with individuals and in a group and when dealing with conflict resolution

* Act as a mentor in training other staff and setting standards

* Have an objective approach to problems/ situations

* Handle pressure of stressful situations by having an objective approach to them

* Maintain professional conduct in front of others

* Able to plan, organise and prioritise work effectively

* Demonstrate excellent attention to detail

Working hours are 22.5 hours per week. This can be 3 days per week or spread over 5 days. Flexible working hours.
