Pay: £40,000 - £60,000pa (TBC)

This popular and well-respected 11-16 secondary school is seeking a Lead Practitioner of English to join the SLT and Lead & inspire the English department, driving standards of literacy across the school. This school have achieved 'Good' in their last 2 Ofsted inspections which is testament to the hard-working academy staff and supportive MAT. As such the school is now one of the most improved schools in Swindon in recent years. The school have a very diverse student demographic and as such have a particularly expansive and inclusive offering for their student cohort. The school is part of a widespread MAT which are very well established and with a good track record across all of their schools.

The Lead Practitioner for English will be dedicated & responsible for and growing the team of English teachers to positively impact the life chances of students. The core purpose of the role is to work with the Faculty Leader of English to develop teaching and learning across the team. Part of the role will involve mentoring and supporting trainees and Early Career Teachers (ECTs). The Lead Practitioner will also contribute to the development of Teaching and Learning across the whole school. 

The school are looking for a Lead Practitioner for English who:

Is passionate about their subject

Has a proven track record of outstanding lesson observations

Has a proven track record of strong results at KS4

Is up to date with current research and trends in teaching and pedagogy (e.g.Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction and Lemov’s Teach Like A Champion)

Is committed to our ethos of high expectations

Has experience of leading a Teaching and Learning initiative in their department

Has the belief that every student can be successful

Has the desire to make a real difference to the lives of our students
