SEMH Class Teacher (Unqualified or QTS)
Location: Blackpool, Lancashire
School Type: Alternative Provision / SEMH Special School
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
The Role: Lead, Inspire, and Transform
Are you a teacher who believes that "behavior is communication"? We are looking for a resilient and creative SEMH Teacher to lead a small class of students in Blackpool.
Whether you are a fully qualified teacher (QTS) or an experienced Instructor/Unqualified Teacher with a background in specialized settings, your ability to connect with "hard-to-reach" learners is what matters most. In this environment, your success isn't measured just by grades, but by the breakthroughs in confidence and emotional regulation your students achieve.
Your Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons that cater to a wide range of academic abilities and emotional needs.
Relationship Building: Develop strong, trusting rapport with pupils who may have had negative experiences with mainstream education.
Behavior Management: Utilize trauma-informed practices and de-escalation techniques to maintain a therapeutic classroom environment.
Assessment & Reporting: Track academic and Nurture-based progress, contributing to EHCP annual reviews and multi-agency meetings.
Nurture Approach: Integrate social skills and emotional literacy into the daily timetable.
Who We Are Looking For
The Right Mindset: You must be unflappable, empathetic, and able to start every day with a "fresh start" policy.
Experience: Proven experience teaching or leading groups of children with SEMH, ASC, or ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder).
Adaptability: The ability to pivot a lesson on the spot if a student is having a "crisis" moment.
Qualification Status: We welcome applications from QTS, QTLS, or Unqualified Teachers with significant experience in PRUs (Pupil Referral Units) or residential care settings.
