Licensing Officer – 6-Month Contract

We’re seeking an experienced Licensing Officer to join a proactive local authority team in Hampshire on a 6-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the effective regulation of licensing services while enjoying the flexibility of hybrid working.
?️ Key Responsibilities:

Process and assess applications for various licences (e.g. alcohol, entertainment, taxi/private hire, street trading)
Conduct inspections and compliance checks
Investigate complaints and breaches of licence conditions
Prepare reports and represent the council at hearings or court proceedings
Liaise with internal departments, external agencies, and the public

? About You:

Proven experience in local authority licensing (essential)
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Licensing Act 2003, Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976)
Excellent communication, investigation, and report-writing skills
Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
Relevant qualifications or training in licensing or regulatory services (desirable)
