Supply Desk is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Hemel Hempstead this September. This is a full-time teaching position, ideal for a motivated educator who is passionate about literature, language, and developing students’ communication skills.

Job Description:

Deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 for the right candidate.
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and abilities.
Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies and national curriculum expectations.
Create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes a love of reading, writing, and discussion.
Contribute to the English department’s curriculum development, enrichment activities, and school-wide literacy initiatives.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to raise attainment and support student achievement.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively and create a positive learning environment.
Participate in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school events as part of the wider school community.

Our ideal candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an ECT with a specialism in English.
Have a strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for English language and literature.
Be passionate about helping students develop literacy skills that are essential for academic and personal success.
Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate learners.
Be proactive, well-organised, and committed to continuous professional development.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to support learning and progress.
Hold or be willing to obtain a clear Enhanced DBS check.
