Salary: £38,(Apply online only)- £41,(Apply online only) (DOE) per annum

Contract: Permanent

Location: Derby

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm

About the Role

A long‑established and trusted calibration and engineering services provider based in Derby, is seeking a proactive and technically strong Head of Laboratories to lead its UKAS‑accredited laboratory operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced calibration professional ready to step into a leadership role within a growing and highly respected organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the day‑to‑day operations of the laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and high‑quality service delivery.
Provide technical leadership across electrical calibration, testing, and inspection activities.
Support and develop laboratory technicians, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.
Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, UKAS accreditation requirements, and internal quality and audit systems.
Oversee both onsite and in‑house calibration work, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and customer satisfaction.
Drive operational improvements to enhance turnaround times, capacity, and service standards.
The Ideal Candidate

Strong understanding of electrical calibration, dimensional testing, and inspection procedures.
Experience working within a UKAS‑accredited or ISO‑regulated environment.
Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience is desirable, though strong senior technicians looking to step up will also be considered.
Highly organised, quality‑driven, and confident in managing both people and processes.
