Job Purpose
As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care and support to the individuals who attend our day service. You will help empower our members to build confidence, develop life skills, and take part in a wide range of activities—from arts and crafts to community outings and therapeutic sessions.
Key Responsibilities
* Person-Centred Support: Provide practical and emotional support tailored to the individual needs of each service user.
* Activity Facilitation: Assist in planning and delivering meaningful activities such as cooking, baking, arts and crafts, music, driving experiences, and sensory-based sessions.
* Promoting Independence: Encourage and support members to build life skills, confidence, and independence in a safe and nurturing environment.
* Personal Care: Where required, support individuals with personal care needs in a respectful and dignified manner.
* Community Engagement: Accompany and support individuals on local outings, appointments, and social opportunities to promote inclusion.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of daily activities, support plans, incidents, and progress.
* Safeguarding and Wellbeing: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all individuals at all times, reporting concerns promptly in line with safeguarding policies.
* Teamwork: Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the individuals we support.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* A caring, compassionate, and patient nature
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
* Willingness to undertake training (e.g. safeguarding, first aid, moving & handling)
* Commitment to promoting independence and inclusion
Desirable:
* Experience working with young adults with complex needs or disabilities
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards)
* Full UK driving licence (preferred for facilitating community access and driving activities)
