Structural Engineer – Energy Sector
Location: Newcastle | Hybrid or Remote | Salary: Up to £40,000 (Dependant on experience)
We’re looking for a motivated and technically skilled Structural Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team, working on a diverse portfolio of exciting projects across the energy sector working on a multimillion-pound framework, which ensures work for the next 10 years.
They do a lot of work on the national grid/SSE framework, completing detailed design of substations, and converter stations. They also do a lot of work on HVDC projects, as well as large portal frame buildings on the energy project sites.
My client is a leading global engineering services firm who are widely respected for their multidisciplinary expertise, commitment to sustainability, and leadership in forward-thinking design.
In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in delivering efficient, compliant, and innovative structural engineering solutions. Reporting to a Senior Engineer, you’ll interface with multidisciplinary teams, support junior engineers, and help drive excellence throughout the lifecycle of their projects.
What You’ll Do:
Deliver key aspects of structural engineering design on high-profile projects, ensuring technical compliance and innovation.
Coordinate and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align with client specifications and project goals.
Support and mentor graduate and assistant engineers as well as junior technicians.
Produce and review technical deliverables, including structural specifications, design calculations, and design packages.
Integrate structural designs with Revit Structures models and ensure coherence with our client’s design systems and protocols.
Assist with client liaison, supporting day-to-day structural engineering discussions and solutions.
Contribute to feasibility studies, concept designs, and final detailing using both digital tools and hand sketches.
Play an active role in design reviews and risk assessments, sharing lessons learned and best practices.
Apply knowledge of sustainable design, construction techniques, and health and safety requirements to all project phases.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience or strong technical grounding in structural engineering, within the energy sector.
Proficiency in using structural analysis tools and Revit Structure for design coordination and model integration.
Actively working towards Chartered Engineer status with a recognised institution.
Ability to apply a mix of traditional hand calculations and modern software for structural analysis and design.
Familiarity with UK construction practices, construction sequencing, temporary works, and site safety protocols.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
Experience in mentoring junior engineers or technicians and contributing to team development.
