About the Role:

This role is within the school’s Additional Resource Provision (ARP), where you will work closely with students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and challenging behavioural needs. These students may be verbal or non-verbal and may use communication devices or Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS).

You’ll play a pivotal role in helping these students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Your experience and dedication will help create a positive learning environment tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with ASD.
• Implement tailored strategies to assist verbal and non-verbal communication, including using PECS and assistive devices.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent approach to the students' development.
• Support the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of students.

Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children with SEN, preferably in an ARP setting.
• Knowledge and experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and challenging behaviours.
• Proficiency with PECS and communication devices.
• A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
