European Accountant
Brighton (with hybrid-working)
Salary of £45,000 – £50,000 per annum, depending on experience

We’re now looking for a European Accountant to join our growing team and support our EU Financial Controller on a full-time, permanent basis.

You'll play a vital role in supporting finance operations across multiple EU entities, gaining valuable exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Financial Controller Europe, you will support finance functions across all EU entities, including:
Accounts Payables:
- Timely & accurate processing and payment of supplier & customs invoices, ensuring all transactions are posted in line with Company accounting policy
Accounts Receivables:
- Allocation of customer payments
- Monitor, review, and correct integration of sales invoices into accounting ledger
Banking & Cash accounting:
- Bank postings & bank reconciliations
- Payment Service Provider processing
- Customer cash receipts postings & reconciliation of cash balance
- Employee Expense Management Platform
- Reconciliation with accounting ledger
Month-end and year-end tasks:
- Ensure books are closed in a timely and accurate manner
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations
- Assist Financial Controller in preparation of statutory financial statements and preparation of year end audit files and assisting with the annual group audit
VAT reporting:
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual VAT returns
- VAT return reconciliation to accounting ledger
Forecasting & Budgeting:
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and cost benefit analysis
- Ad hoc duties as and when required as well as providing holiday cover
Key Experiences, Skills and Qualifications
- Up to 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience with local accounting requirements in the EU (preferably Spain and/or France)
- Knowledge of EU customs and VAT regulations
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage expectations
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
- Skilled in Excel, Google Sheets and JET reporting systems
- Must be fluent in English and either French, Spanish, or Polish (essential)
Please note, you must be able to travel to Brighton at least twice a week.
