About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate and practical SEN Life Skills Teacher & Careers Advisor to join our team at Edison Pace School. In this role, you’ll teach essential life skills and give careers advice to students aged 7–16 with SEND, helping them get ready for adulthood and whatever comes next — whether it’s more education, a job, or training.
What You’ll Be Doing
Life Skills Teaching:
* Create and deliver fun, engaging lessons on everyday skills (like money, travel, communication, and self-care)
* Work with therapists, support staff, and families to meet each student’s EHCP goals
* Build an inclusive, positive classroom environment
* Track progress and tailor your teaching to each learner
Careers Guidance:
* Offer 1:1 and group careers advice based on Gatsby Benchmarks
* Help students explore college, apprenticeships, work experience, and volunteering
* Connect with local employers and agencies
* Support transitions with personalised planning
Teamwork & Communication:
* Collaborate with staff, parents, and other professionals
* Join in on meetings and EHCP reviews
Student Safety & Wellbeing:
* Follow safeguarding policies and complete risk assessments for off-site visits
Your Growth:
* Take part in CPD, appraisals, and mentoring — we’re big on development!
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
* QTS or equivalent
* Experience working with SEND students
* A solid understanding of the Preparing for Adulthood framework
* Great communication and organisation
* Safeguarding knowledge
* A full driving licence
Nice to Have:
* Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification (or be willing to train for it)
* Background in vocational learning or supported employment
* Experience with EHCPs
