Speech & Language Therapist – Band 6
Location: Hillingdon
Contract: Permanent | Full Time
Hours: 8:00am–4:00pm, plus one evening per week (4:30–7:00pm) in residential setting
Reports To: Clinical Lead for Therapies
About the Role
Join a dedicated multidisciplinary team supporting children and young people with complex needs, including speech, language, communication, sensory, and motor difficulties. You will help enable access to a broad curriculum and support students' overall development.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and prioritise a specialist caseload under supervision
Assess students using formal tools and clinical observations
Deliver tailored interventions—individual and group
Monitor progress using evidence-based practices
Oversee therapy programmes delivered by support staff
Contribute to student reviews and placements
Work closely with families, staff, and external professionals
Provide training to staff and parents where needed
Promote positive behaviour through communication strategies
Take part in staff meetings, wider activities, and service development
Maintain accurate clinical records in line with standards
Engage in CPD, clinical supervision, and performance reviews
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
HCPC registration and RCSLT membership
Minimum 2 years’ post-registration experience (including paediatric caseload in a school setting)
Strong assessment and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage a complex caseload independently and in a team
Desirable:
Experience delivering staff training
Knowledge of AAC and other communication aids
Experience working in SEN or residential settings
