The Role
As an Assessment Officer (EHC Coordinator), you’ll be at the heart of Medway’s SEND Assessment Hub. You’ll lead on coordinating high-quality Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments and crafting clear, outcome-focused EHC Plans that truly reflect the aspirations and needs of each child or young person.

What You’ll Be Doing

Developing accurate, high-quality EHC Plans based on multi-agency assessments.
Driving the statutory 20-week process, ensuring timelines and legal duties are met.
Supporting families, acting as a trusted first point of contact during the assessment journey.
Coordinating professional advice from across education, health and social care.
Ensuring rigorous data management, maintaining clear, transparent communication with all stakeholders.
Championing Medway’s values, promoting inclusion, safeguarding and positive outcomes for all young people.What You’ll Bring

Strong communication skills and the ability to make complex information clear and accessible.
Experience working with children, young people or families — ideally within SEND, education, health or social care.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
Confidence in analysing information to shape decisions and plans.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to build constructive working relationships across agencies.It is essential that you have worked in a local authority previously, within a SEND service working with EHC Plans.
