Facilities Technician (Plumbing, Steam & Pipework)
Location: Market Drayton
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Hours: 39 hours per week (8:30am - 5:00pm, with flexibility)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
A leading manufacturing group is currently looking to appoint an experienced Facilities Technician to join their engineering team at a key site in Market Drayton. This role is ideal for a skilled Pipefitter, Plumber, or Mechanical Engineer looking to work in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.
Role Overview
As a Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various mechanical systems including water, steam, compressed air, and process pipework. You will also support scheduled and reactive mechanical works, welding, and fabrication across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Install, repair, and modify pipework systems (copper, stainless steel, ABS, PVC, galvanised)
Maintain and service steam systems, traps, condensate lines, valves, and lagging
Perform welding and basic metal fabrication for supports, frames, and brackets
Ensure compliance with safety standards and pressure systems regulations
Support the upkeep of critical utilities (water, steam, compressed air, drainage)
Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete repairs
Log all work using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS - HolisTech)
Review RAMS, manage permits to work, and supervise contractors
Support preventative maintenance and infrastructure improvement projects
Comply with water hygiene regulations (Legionella L8, WRAS) and confined space protocols
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Pipefitter, Plumber or Mechanical Engineer within a manufacturing or industrial setting
Strong knowledge of steam systems, valves, pumps, and control equipment
Welding and fabrication experience (beneficial)
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
L2/L3 qualification in Plumbing, Pipefitting or Mechanical Engineering
CMMS experience (HolisTech or similar) preferred
Awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards (including confined space and hot works)
