About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school team in Sheffield. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
You will work closely with the SENCo, class teachers and external professionals to provide high-quality support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with identified SEN.
Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
Support pupils’ emotional regulation and social development.
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCo.
Promote inclusion and positive behaviour in line with school policies.
Liaise effectively with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience working in a UK primary school setting is essential.
Proven experience supporting children with SEN.
Good understanding of the UK primary curriculum.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures within UK schools.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
Desirable Qualifications
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
Additional SEN training (e.g., autism awareness, Team Teach, speech and language support).
