SEMH TA Primary

Salary: ££75 - £100 per day

GSL Education are seeking a Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to work within primary education in Washington, Tyne and Wear.

Job Summary: The SEMH TA will provide support to primary-aged students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This role involves assisting in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes students' overall well-being and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

Offer one-to-one support and group interventions for students with SEMH needs.
Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive learning behaviors.
Collaborate with class teachers and SENCO to implement individualized support plans.
Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with SEMH or a strong interest in supporting children with additional needs.
Compassionate and patient demeanor when dealing with challenging behaviors.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Resilience and adaptability in responding to the diverse needs of students.
Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful candidates must satisfy all background checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
