Primary Special Needs Support
Veritas Education are working in partnership with a Leeds based primary school, looking for a permanent staff member to join their in-house specialist provision team.
The provision supports children from early years age groups to year 6 with a range of complex, learning, sensory and communication needs. The provision is equipped with fantastic facilities such as sensory rooms, interactive play stations and more, to help promote academic development and social growth within the students.
The Role:
You will be based across multiple year groups, supporting children from early years classes up to year 6 across their specialised education and timetables.
Working on a 1:1 basis with specific learners and across small groups, leading intervention sessions focused on literacy, numeracy and sensory skills development.
Work across a range of learning needs from Autism, Asperger's, ADHD, and Down Syndrome, as well as support different levels of communication needs with pre- and non-verbal learners.
Be comfortable assisting with personal care, hygiene support and changing, due to the complexity of the learners needs, some children need assistance with going to the toilet.
Help manage behaviour across the provision and de-escalate situations when students go into crisis, aiming to keep them calm, safe and regulated
Be a pro-active, committed and cohesive staff member, who works alongside other support staff, teachers and healthcare staff in creating a dynamic, inclusive and safe learning environment for all children.
