We're currently recruiting for a Social Work Assistant to join a dedicated team within a Durham-based Local Authority. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children in care and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise family time sessions between children in care and their family members, ensuring visits are safe, positive, and child-focused.
Support with administrative duties, including completing Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaires (SDQs) with carers and updating dental and health records on the system.
Undertake life story work with children to help them understand their personal journey and experiences.
Work closely with social workers, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare and stability of children in care.Requirements:

Previous experience working with children, young people, and families in a social care setting.
Strong communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and families.Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable.

Contract length: 3-6 months (with expectation of an ongoing extension)

Rate of Pay: £16.25-£20.00 per hour (Negotiable DOE).

Hours: Full time, 37 hours each week.
