The Role:
* Teach Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the exciting possibility of teaching Key Stage 5 (A-Level Product Design, Engineering, or Graphics) for candidates with relevant experience and expertise.
* Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and meticulously structured practical and theoretical lessons that inspire creativity, encourage innovation, and develop core design and manufacturing skills in students of all abilities.
* Contribute actively to the enrichment of DT education through organizing and participating in extracurricular activities such as design clubs, engineering challenges, robotics competitions, and educational visits to design studios or manufacturing sites.
* Support student progress through effective assessment and constructive feedback on both practical projects and theoretical understanding, carefully monitoring individual development and guiding students towards mastery.
* Collaborate enthusiastically with colleagues in curriculum planning and departmental development, actively participating in meetings, contributing innovative project ideas, and helping to shape the future of Design Technology education within the school.
The Ideal Candidate:
* A qualified Design Technology Teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a strong academic and practical background in DT.
* Possesses excellent subject knowledge across various DT specialisms (e.g., Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles, Food, Systems & Control) and an undeniable passion for fostering creativity and practical skills.
* Committed to inclusive and student-centred teaching practices, ensuring that every student feels confident and capable in developing their design and making abilities.
* Able to inspire innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking in students of all abilities, guiding them through the design process from concept to creation.
* Willing to engage fully and enthusiastically in the wider life of the school community, embracing opportunities to contribute to extracurricular programmes and uphold the school’s vibrant ethos and values.
* Hold an Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one) and be able to provide two satisfactory professional references.
