Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Secondary Schools across North London
Contract: Supply
Reporting to: Senior Leadership Team / Cover Manager / Head of Department

Job Purpose To supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain on task, engaged in learning activities, and adhere to school behaviour and safeguarding policies.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 during teacher absence, following pre-set lesson plans and instructions
Maintain a positive, orderly and safe learning environment in line with school behaviour policies
Ensure students are engaged with the work set and provide guidance where appropriate (without teaching new content)
Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting respect and positive relationships
Take accurate registers and report attendance, behaviour issues, or concerns to relevant staff
Support students with additional needs by following guidance from SEN staff and inclusion teams
Liaise with teaching staff, Heads of Department and pastoral teams to ensure continuity of learning
Collect, return and provide feedback on completed work as directed
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and report any concerns in accordance with school procedures
Support the wider school community when required, including playground duty or exam support (where appropriate)Person Specification Essential:

Experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable)
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Ability to engage, motivate and manage groups of secondary-aged students
Confidence, resilience and a calm approach in a busy school environment
Good organisational skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS checkDesirable:

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant
Experience working in North London secondary schools
Knowledge of the UK secondary curriculum
